Frequently Asked Questions

Ask the experts at Cantsink, metro Atlanta foundation repair specialists.
What methods do you recommend to stop my home from settling?
There are a number of different solutions that can be used to solve foundation problems and prevent further settling, including the installation of helical piles. However, the first step in determining the right solution is identifying the cause of the problem. Our trained professionals will do a thorough inspection of your home and property to determine what’s causing the settlement, and then recommend the most effective—and the most cost-efficient—solution.
Is a helical pile the best solution for my foundation problem?
In most cases, yes. This is true for a variety of reasons, but here’s one: Unlike a resistance pile, a helical pile is installed independent of the foundation. This avoids applying additional stress to a foundation that may already be failing.
What makes Cantsink helical piles different from the helical piles used by other contractors?
Cantsink has created and patented a unique helix design that results in a superior helical pile—one that's over 40 percent stronger than the piles used by our competitors. Also, our helical piles are built in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility using an innovative manufacturing process that keeps costs down and quality up.
Is lifting a structure that has already settled necessary when repairing a foundation?
Not always—it depends on the ultimate goal. For one thing, lifting a structure can cause distress in some cases. Every situation is different and should be evaluated thoroughly to determine if lifting is a viable option. Our professionals will perform a thorough evaluation to assess your structure and make the right call.
Does Cantsink repair slabs as well as foundations?
Yes. Slab settlements can be repaired in a variety of ways, and we will suggest alternatives that will result in the best outcome for your situation.
How important is it that an engineer assess my foundation problem?
As a manufacturer and specialty contractor, Cantsink has an on-site staff engineers (PE). While an engineer isn't necessary in order to diagnose every foundation problem, it does allow us to diagnose problems more thoroughly and suggest the best possible repair solution. We can also refer you to one of multiple engineering firms in the area, if you desire.
